This is what this show is back a. The crew travels problems are not new, have done a zillion times, and you know from the beginning of the episode exactly how they will solve. The show is not about solving their problems, about how to address these problems, as people. It's a show where people have nervous breakdowns, where they sometimes give up in despair. It is a show where you get a sense of loneliness that the crew feels at being so far away, and where the characters are not all super soldiers with an iron will and heart of gold. And thankfully, is played by a group of actors who manage (mostly) to bring their characters.
This is not a spectacle of technology. Geekspeak If you want to go to Atlantis reruns. But if you want stories, linked together by a set of unique characters that act like real human beings, then do watch the show.
This does not mean that the show is perfect, but has much more potential as a true science-fiction show that any of the previous stargates have done.
