William Walker (guest star Tom Skerritt) dies unexpectedly at a birthday party of the family. Now his family will be forced to face some new life realities. (Calista Flockhart) Kitty's radio success has led to a range of television work in Los Angeles, but New York boyfriend just proposed. Down to earth Thomas (aka Tommy) (Balthazar Getty) has joined forces with her sister, Sarah (Rachel Griffiths), in an effort to fix the family business, which is in financial trouble. Sarah also strives to balance work responsibilities with the needs of her husband and children. Lawyer Kevin (Matthew Rhys) is gay and would like to find a romantic partner. Justin (Dave Annable), a veteran of the war in Afghanistan, suffer from addictions that hinder progress in his career and love life. These siblings are about to discover that, underneath the idyllic family facade, there are many secrets that threaten to tear or separation from family or bring them closer.
